Evidence creation research that contributes to drug treatment optimization and training of pharmacists with excellent problem finding and solving capabilities

In order to use medicines effectively and safely, it is important to select medicines and set the dosage and administration according to each patient's condition. In terms of education, this course aims to train researchers and pharmacists who can create and utilize the information necessary for optimizing drug treatment from the perspective of pharmacokinetics.

To that end, we will analyze information on the interaction between drugs and "living organisms" from the perspective of pharmacokinetics, and develop the ability to understand them in an integrated manner. The target "living body" here includes a very wide range of perspectives, from biomolecules such as genes and proteins to cells and tissues in the micro, and from individuals (humans) to specific populations in the macro.

In terms of research, based on pharmacokinetics and cell biology, from a wide range of perspectives as described above, mainly to elucidate clinical problems related to post-marketing drugs, and to use them appropriately and effectively. We are conducting research to create information.

As research methods, not only'Wet' methods that deal with genes, cells, and animals, but also'Dry' methods such as modeling and simulation (M & S) and research studies are used. The specific research areas are described below.

  1. Analysis of factors that cause individual differences in drug metabolism processes and drug interactions that occur there, and application to personalized medicine

  2. Quantitative prediction of the effects of various factors such as pathology and diet on the drug absorption process

  3. Quantitative elucidation of drug interactions occurring in the drug absorption process and construction of avoidance methods

  4. Creation of drug information and optimization of drug treatment by utilizing IT technology and pharmacometrics
